The Pros of Free Tuition For BC Students {Assignments}

Mitchell February 16, 2020 In British Columbia an undergraduate can owe up to $28,000 in student loan debt including federal and provincial loans, and while all B.C. student loans stopped accumulating interest since last year that’s still a hefty price to pay. But what if we didn’t have to? Nearly two years ago, President Barack Obama introduced a plan to deliver free community college for American students. It may not have become a reality, but I think free tuition would be beneficial because it could allow people who aren’t able to afford schooling access to an education. Not only could this greatly reduce the amount of student debt, it could also help reduce poverty by allowing more individuals to find work that pays more and includes health and benefit plans. With a reported 39% increase of student debt between 2011 and 2015 reaching $1.3 trillion, It’s no wonder why many avoid post education altogether.   By removing tuition costs individuals

Chris Palliser Presentation {Assignment}

Mitchell February 6, 2020 “Never say no”. Chris Palliser, Virgin radio’s morning show co-host, imparted this wisdom to students during a presentation at Camosun College regarding the pursuit of employment in the radio industry. He elaborated that you should always be open to every opportunity and that you’re “constantly trying to reinvent yourself” in this line of work. Palliser began his presentation with an entertaining introduction: he has always enjoyed talking, so much so that he’s one of few students to get detention for talking too much while attending Camosun College. In 2001 he took the applied communications program which led to a co-op at Nanaimo’s 106.9 FM The Wolf, followed by his first full-time radio gig shortly after in Fort McMurray at their local station Country 93.3 FM. He later found work in Edmonton at 92.5 Joe FM (as it was known as at the time) before travelling back to Vancouver where he worked at The Beat 94.5 FM for 10 years. After the birth of
